About ID/DD Waiver Services
What Is The ID/DD Waiver?
The Intellectual Disabilities/Developmental Disabilities Waiver (ID/DD) is a statewide program, administered by the Division of Medicaid and operated jointly with the Mississippi Department of Mental Health. It is designed to offer assistance and services for people with intellectual/developmental disabilities to enable them to remain in a home or community-based setting.
*The DCLH program is a Medicaid eligibility category in Mississippi for children with disabilities or complex medical needs who live at home with their families. The program can help children who may not qualify for other Medicaid programs due to their family’s income or assets.

How To access IDD Services
To get started with ID/DD Waiver services, reach out to your local ID/DD Regional Center to set up an evaluation. If the evaluation shows that the person needs a similar level of care as someone in an institutional setting, they can choose to be added to the ID/DD Waiver Planning List.
Once on the Planning List, the individual will need to be eligible for Medicaid before moving forward. If they qualify for enrollment in the ID/DD Waiver, a Support Coordinator from the Regional Center will work closely with them to create a personalized Plan of Care. This plan will outline the types and amounts of services requested, as well as help the individual choose providers for each service.
The Plan of Care is then submitted for approval from the Bureau of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (BIDD). After BIDD reviews and approves the plan, the individual will receive notification about the approved services and amounts. The Support Coordinator will then inform the chosen agency so that the approved services can begin.
Support Coordination
Support Coordination services coordinate and monitor all services an individual on the ID/DD Waiver receives, regardless of funding source, to ensure services are adequate, appropriate, meet the individual’s needs, and ensure the individual’s health and welfare needs are met. Support Coordinators are also responsible for ensuring an annual re-evaluation of each individual’s level of care is performed in order to ensure ongoing eligibility for the program.

There are no specific age restrictions to qualify for the ID/DD Waiver. Individuals of any age can apply, provided they demonstrate a need for the same level of care as someone who would be admitted to an intermediate care facility for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
